Common Induction Training of Trainers

Common induction training sessions for the trainers in the four thematic areas of the Glob@l Libraries - Bugaria Program were held from 7 to 11 July 2010 and from 14 to 18 July 210 in the Expo Hotel in Sofia.
Field Visit of US Representatives of the Global Libraries Initiative to Bulgaria

Ms. Jessica Dorr, Deputy Director of the BMGF Global Libraries Initiative, and Ms. Siri Oswald, Program Officer for Bulgaria, Romania and the Ukraine, are on a field visit to Bulgaria from 14 to 18 June 2010.
The Glob@l Libraries – Bulgaria Program and the Center for Independent Journalism received a grant for a joint project by the Matra – Cap Program of the Dutch Embassy

The project "Libraries and journalists keep vigil on the rule of law, civil rights and social inclusion" developed jointly by the Center for Independent Journalism and the Glob@l Libraries - Bulgaria Program, received funding of BGN 18,570 from the recent grant competition by the MATRA /CAP Program of the Dutch embassy in Bulgaria.

Induction Meeting with Regional IT Specialists under the Program was Held

The first working meeting of the Program Management Unit and the newly selected District IT Specialists was held on 20 and 21 May 2010 in Sofia.
740 Applications of Public Libraries for Inclusion in Stage 2010 of the Program

740 libraries from 214 municipalities from all over the country submitted their applications for inclusion in Stage 2010 of the Glob@l Libraries - Bulgaria Program. The deadline for applications was 14 April 2010.
Program Team Participated in a Peer Learning Meeting in Helsinki

The Glob@l Libraries - Bulgaria Program Manager Trendafil Meretev, representatives of the Program Management Unit, of the Ministry of Culture and of the United Nations Development Programme participated in an international peer learning meeting which took place from 11 to 16 April 2010 in Helsinki.

During the General Assembly of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria held on 18th February 2010 in Plovdiv, representatives of Glob@l Libraries handed the official memoranda of understanding to majors of municipalities, which host libraries supported by the program at Stage 2009.
