The first joint meeting of Bulgarian and Romanian library managers under the Biblionet Program and the Glob@l Libraries Bulgaria Program, part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Global Libraries Initiative, was held on 2 November in Sofia.
Trendafil Meretev and Paul-Andre Baran, managers of the two programs for Bulgaria and Romania, presented the progress and challenges in implementation their programs are facing.
The meeting focused on several key topics: the training components of the Biblionet Program and the Glob@l Libraries Bulgaria Program; new services libraries could offer their users; economic and political challenges; relations with local authorities in the context of program implementation; possibilities for cross-border cooperation.
The participants shared good practices in the implementation of advocacy campaigns and outlined possibilities for future cooperation between the two programs.
They agreed that such meetings are extremely useful and necessary.
