The district library of Dambovitsa in the town of Targovishte, Romania held an event within a project regarding the cultural heritage of the Balkans on 9, 10 and 11 November 2010. The participants from the Bulgarian side were Ms. Rositsa Kutsarova, Ms. Asya Atanasova and Ms. Milena Ivanova from the Petar Stapov Regional Library in the town of Targovishte in Bulgaria, as well as the PMU representatives Ms. Luba Devetakova and Mr. Nikolay Markov.
As a part of the event, the consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Romania Mr. Yavor Stoyanov officially handed over a donation of books in Bulgarian language from the Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library in Ruse to the representatives of the Bulgarian minority in the town of Targovishte in Romania (www.zaedno.ro) and to the district library of Dambovitsa.
Ms. Karmen Vadan, director of the Yon Radulesku District Library in Targovishte, Romania and Ms. Rositsa Kutsarova, director of the Petar Stapov Regional Library in Targovishte, Bulgaria signed a memorandum for cooperation between the two libraries and discussed the opportunities for common projects.
At a meeting between representatives of the two libraries and the local Bulgarian community, the exchange of digital content in Bulgarian was agreed upon which shall deepen the connection of the Bulgarian minority to their motherland and shall aid the learning of literary Bulgarian language by their children. This exchange shall be facilitated through the ICT equipment donated to the two libraries by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation within Biblionet - Romania and Glob@l Libraries - Bulgaria.
