Installation of Computer Monitoring Software under the Glob@l Libraries – Bulgaria Program

In relation to program reporting to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the need of up-to-date information about the usability of computers at target libraries, a bid process was conducted for development, testing, installation and support of workstation monitoring software. Lirex BG OOD Company was selected as a contractor. The software will be installed in all target libraries participating in the program by 19 May 2012.

The computer usage monitoring software aims to give an accurate picture of how the computers provided under the program are used and serve the Glob@l Libraries – Bulgaria reporting purposes.

The computer monitoring software will collect only and exclusively types of data as follows:

  • number of switched on/shut down computers, active/passive sessions (on a daily basis);
  • number of switched on computers without internet connection (on a monthly basis);
  • internet connection speed (on a daily basis);
  • number of logins and duration of “visitor” profile sessions (on a daily basis);
  • number of MS Office application launches: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, MS Project (on a daily basis).

The computer equipment monitoring software will in no way collect personal data or other information about computer usage or library users other than the above types of information. The information to be collected is purely statistical and will not be associated with individual users.
