Network of Information Centres in Eastern Africa Received the Access to Learning 2011 Award

The Arid Lands Information Network (ALIN) is the recipient of the 2011 Access to Learning Award. ALIN has created 12 Maarifa - or Knowledge Centers in the most hard-to-reach regions of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania so that these people have the tools they need to improve their health, increase their incomes, and better their lives.

Project Compass: Libraries lead the workforce for the 21st Century

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation presented its 2010 Access to Learning Award of $1 million to the Veria Central Public Library for its creative use of information and technology services to meet the economic, educational, and cultural needs of more than 180,000 people.

“History of the Revival” – Lithuanian reform movement stories on www.grazitumano.lt

In April 2010 project "Libraries for Innovation" and Lithuanian public libraries invited their users to contribute to the initiative "History of the Revival". The aim of this initiative was to publish memories, stories and photos of the 1988-1989 events in Lithuanian cities and towns from regular citizen point of view.
